Phase Sequence Control
The phase sequence relay/guard measure three phase AC supplies for correct rotation and will activate and relay output for any fault. A wrong phase sequence will cause fault in rotation or motors and pumps and can cause problems and damages.
The units also monitor for phase failure and phase imbalance in the supply.
There is also the simple phase sequence indicator type without any output signal.
Correct Phase Sequence
Reversed Phase Sequence
Supply Line Voltage Imbalance
Loss of a Supply Phase Voltage
Description
KSP34E2 protects and safeguards personnel and equipment against injury and damage due to reversed rotation, and is a must for ship’s shore connection, mobile installations and non-permanent installations. KSP34E2 is to be connected to the supply line voltages.
LEDs indicate the phase sequence (direction of rotation), supply failure or voltage imbalance:
- Green: Correct Rotation
- Red: Reversed Rotation/Supply Failure*
- Red: Voltage Imbalance
The trip relay can be used for alarm purposes or to control automatic phase sequence correction relays.
The unit meets IEC60092-504 and the relevant environmental and EMC tests specified in IEC60068/60092 and IEC61000/60533 respectively, to comply with the requirements of the major Classification Societies.
Phase failure
Phase Imbalance
Incorrect Phase Sequence
Description
KRM72x monitors three phase AC supplies for incorrect phase sequence, phase failure and phase imbalance on systems up to 500V.
Operation
A sensitivity adjustment on the top of the unit allows adjustment up to 50% of the phase to phase voltage. The minimum level is selected to avoid any nuisance tripping due to normal variations in voltages.
A factory set delay of approximately two seconds prevents tripping due to transients. The unit is factory set for 50/60Hz.
Green LED indicate the phase sequence and will lit when direction of rotation is correct.
